John Ondrasik is a singer-songwriter and pianist best known as Five for Fighting, has been a powerful voice of support for Israel and a passionate advocate for the release of hostages taken by Hamas on October 7. In a moving act of solidarity, he rewrote the lyrics of his hit song Superman to honor the hostages, particularly Alon Ohel, to stand with their families. Ondrasik has also traveled to Israel to perform at events such as the Bring Them Home Now concert, using his music to raise awareness and inspire hope. He has consistently emphasized that his support for Israel is not political or religious, but a moral stance rooted in the rejection of terrorism and hatred. Ondrasik has also been outspoken about the art and music community’s perceived silence and moral failure regarding the Israeli hostages taken by terrorists on October 7. He has repeatedly cited Martin Luther King Jr.’s words, “Silence in the face of evil is complicity,” to underscore the inaction. Thank you, John for being a compassionate human, acknowledging the pain of the Jewish and Israeli communities during these challenging times, and for being a steadfast friend and ally to the Jewish people and the State of Israel.
