Judge Branch is not Jewish, but she is incredibly supportive of the Jewish community and speaks out strongly against antisemitism. In addition to the cross necklace that she wears, following October 7, she started wearing a Star of David necklace (stating “if they are coming for the Jews, they are coming for me too”) and now wears one of the “Bring Them Home” hostage dog tags. Judge Branch was one of the lead signatories on a letter from thirteen judges who said they would not hire law clerks from Columbia Law School because of the horrible way that Columbia University handled antisemitism and the encampments in the spring of 2024.
