David Smith, Attendance and Transportation Liaison for Marion County School District in Tennessee, has supported the Jewish people with dedication for over 27 years. In 1998, while serving as Assistant Principal at Whitwell Middle School, David helped launch an after-school Holocaust education program to teach students about tolerance. This effort grew into what is now known as The Paper Clips Project—a powerful tribute created by Whitwell students to honor Holocaust victims. What began as a simple 8th-grade project to learn about other cultures turned into a worldwide movement. The students collected over 30 million paper clips, each representing a life lost in the Holocaust. Thank you, David, for using your role in education to teach young people the importance of tolerance and for standing with the Jewish community on the right side of history.
